Heroes of Video Game Music

CROWDFUNDING CAMPAIGN MANAGEMENT

The Heroes of Video Game Music project was conceived by highly experienced game composer, sound engineer and Dolby Surround Sound evangelist Rik Ede. Its goal was to gather over 20 of the world’s best video game composers on one album to showcase and celebrate their under-appreciated work in a unique way.

Originally launched as a Kickstarter campaign in May 2013 it sadly failed to hit its funding goal and was cancelled before its end date. Identity Spark was hired by Rik to re-launch the campaign (following official sponsorship being secured from Dolby and The Chairworks Studio in Leeds.).

Over a three-week period, Natalie worked closely with Rik to re-factor the campaign, enhancing reward tiers, re-writing campaign copy and backer communications, and driving the creation of a new pitch video. She coordinated the re-launch media out-reach, securing high-profile coverage in a variety of games industry consumer and trade media, as well as in the music and audio press. She also took over the day-to-day running of the official Twitter and Facebook feeds, increasing follower numbers/quality and engagement.

The Kickstarter was re-launched on 27th June 2013 and Natalie led the campaign management and social media through the full 32 days of the fund-raising period, working with Rik to define stretch goals and secure new artists, including the creation of a game industry ‘band’ – the SpecialEffect All Stars – which will see the charity’s industry supporters join some of the disabled people they help in a bid to enable even the most severely disabled to create and enjoy music.

The re-booted campaign hit its funding goal in less than five days, eventually raising nearly three times the original cancelled campaign. The album will be produced in late 2013 and launch to the public in early 2014.

CLIENT FEEDBACK:

“Natalie is an absolute superstar. She is extremely knowledgeable, personable, professional and her attention to detail and work ethic is highly commendable. She is extremely knowledgeable in games, social and traditional media and not only brings a wealth of experience but also has a wide range of valuable relationships within the industry.

Natalie went far beyond my expectations in terms of results and dedication to my project’s needs. It was not unusual for her to work unsociable hours often late at night and weekends in the pursuit of my goals.

Natalie is exceptional at taking an idea, enhancing it and delivering it to both traditional and social media with a clear and concise message. Without any doubt I would recommend Natalie to anyone without any hesitation and will certainly continue to use her services in all my future endeavours.”
